The old alma mater will be offering free online courses next year.
This is great news for people who can’t afford teritary education, including retirees who want to keep mentally active (something that’s associated with lower risks of Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia).
But while I’m all for greater access to education and knowledge, I admit the kiasu cheapskate in me is slightly relieved that none of my classes has gone online — ‘What? You paid for your educashion? How much?…Mine was free!…Aiyoh…So sayang ah…’
